Pain Points

Managing investments, stocks, cryptocurrencies, and multiple portfolios can often be complex and overwhelming with several platforms to manage.

Significant gaps in financial apps from feature usability and data tracking, cause difficulty in diverse age groups with varying levels of financial literacy.

Accessibility challenges in financial apps create issues and learning curves, limiting a users ability to effectively navigate.

AI utilization in the financial sector is minimally achieved, missing opportunities for users to learn skills, gain advice, and optimize finances.

Wireframes

A wireframe is a grayscale basic layout of a screen with minimal aesthetics, mainly for structure and layout like a draft. Designers use wireframing to layout screens and make sure all information needed on the screen is accounted for.

Especially mapping out a complex app with many features, wireframing and creating low fidelity versions was very important.

Branding and Style Guide

A simple, engaging approach to financial services

Traditional finance apps are often cluttered and professional with contrasting analogous black and white designs. Adding color not only makes the experience more enjoyable but also helps users focus on important actions and stay engaged.

Conclusion and takeaways

This project was motivated by my personal interest in financial service apps. I found that financial services is an area where design has been relatively underdeveloped compared to other industries. My recent conversations with product designers at Chase have reinforced this view as their projects involve the integration and modernization of outdated systems. The challenge of improving established, complex systems presents a unique opportunity to integrate new design approaches with user-friendly interfaces, and I am eager to contribute.

If I had more time, I would focus more on AI insights as it would be the most optimal and helpful aspect setting this app apart from others. I would also find ways to simplify the data visualization, making it easier for users to understand. I would also incorporate more interactive educational tools to further enhance financial literacy.
